    Images on a Guns Stock

    Hi all,

I posted this over on SMC as well.

Just thought I would share these pics with you. Sorry about the quality, I took them on my phone.

I have been doing a few gun stocks as samples for customers to look at, hence the multiple images. I was doing this one this afternoon.

It's a stained and varnished stock and when lased the rastered area is very white.
I used Photgrav for the Fox and the Wolf and set too with various colours of wood stain and a small brush, followed up with some grain sealer and then some finishing oil.

The Deer and the Tigers head was colour filled with some black paint and the horse was just stained with a dark stain.

I have done some images on oil finished walnut stocks and didn't need to use any stains. Just some stock oil and they were good to go.

As said, just thought I would share the spoils of my afternoon in the garage.

    Regards

    Dave.

    Dave,

Very nice - I like the style of top two (fox and wolf) best.

    Thanks Zax,

I agree, my preference are the rastered photo's. I guess it depends on the application and what suits.
It's surprising that when someone gets an example in their hands it gets them thinking about other things they could have done.
If everyone who said they fancy having some lasering done actually placed an order.................

    Regards

    Dave.

Nice job, Dave. You do nice work.

I did this to my 10/22 awhile ago. I used the Post Script Fill tool in Corel to make the pattern.

    Hi Skip,

Cheers. That's also a nice job on your Ruger.

I have some of that Post Script fill on my To Do list. I'll get round to it at some point.

I'm just working on a set of images like the Deer and the Horse on above for what I'm going to call Gun Stock Tatoos or Stock Tattooing.

I'm hoping over time it will take off.

    Regards

    Dave.
