Save (or export) the file from your autocad as a dxf, version 12, then you should be able to open it in bobcad.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

    Dwg

The New Version 20 CAD-CAM system offers support for importing AutoCAD DWG files directly. We also support DWG surfaces and solids as well. V20 also supports DXF, IGES, SAT/ACIS, STEP and Rhino CAD 3DM files.

You are 100% right, BUT I was not talking about exporting iges in autocad but mechanical desktop (as the thread name implies "mechanical desktop to bobcad" ) can export IGES using the IGESOUT command. Or you can use the AMACISOUT command to export the parts and subassemblies to an ACIS (SAT) file.
