Interested in 3D as well, but I picked high speed pocketing not only because of the related feature, but because I also wanted to know how can we use the options in the regular BobCad features to optimize the generated code. Let me know if you would like to know specifics and I'll send you a private PM/email.

    Thanks.

I would like to change my vote from "High Speed Pocketing" to "4 Axis Machining" because it turns out that even though I have the Pro version it does not include the HSP feature -- which it was explained to me is a separate module licensed from VoluMill.

    Thank you.

    Bobcad webinare

    Hi all
I took in two of Bobcad webinares, begining v23 and Bobart. Enjoyed them very much. In the invite, we were supposed to be able to record the webcast but it turned out not to be so. So I too hope that these will be played someware so we can view them as i have forgotten how to do many of the functions shown.

Unfortunately YOU TUBE has limited the size of the videos that can be posted to just 10 minutes. We are instead using gotowebinars hosting you can view previously recorded webinars on by going to the BobCAD website ..

    http://bobcadsupport.com/

    Click the webinar tab.

Hah.... , did it take you all day to figure that one out ?

Seriously though, these webinars are to help those using BobCAD and to answer questions for those that are interested in BobCAD, If you are a skeptic maybe you should watch or partake in one of these webinars. This is a great chance to get straight answers to all of your questions and concerns. Skeptics are more than welcome to join in on a webinar.

These appear to be exactly the type of "training" data that I wanted to view prior to purchasing BobCAD. MUCH better than anything else I have seen offered by BobCAD themselves, finally approaching the thouroughness of Sorin's "Open Source" training efforts. PLEASE continue this series, and keep it open to anyone and everyone who wants to see it!

Is the final/chosen topic the "Predator Editor" ?

I just got an email mentioning that as the topic for a webinar at the same time Thursday.

    Thanks.

Well, I'm not sure if this would be a good example, but I have this piece I have been scratching my head about... http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87830

    The challenges are:
    • A lot of material to remove
    • Stress relieving the entire piece before approaching final dimensions
    • Intricate pocketing detail at a 1/16" radius (1/8" tool)
    • 3200 RPM top spindle speed

    [Edit]

Attached is an earlier sim for it. If you guys decide to take it, and if there is interest, I'm sure we would be able to come up with a sim that takes into account the current changes.

Not to rain on your parade, but I would like to see some simpler stuff: like how to make a wedge or a ramp in a solid form. Or how about a half cone shaped ramp, both inside or outside? Perhaps a twisting wedge or ramp like the banked corner of a race track where it flattens out to go into the straight stretch or a spiral ramp like in an underground parking lot? Or a propelor blade for airplanes or boats. A bannaster for a spiral staircase. Hey how about a flared out cone shape with spiraled blades like a washing machine agitator. You know something SIMPLE!! Just a thought or two.

    DaVinci Aerial Screw

Here is a sample with layers showing the individual pieces. I used the skin function to make the surface.

I don't want to hijack this thread. If you create another I will be happy to help when I get a moment.

EDIT: And a pineapple grenade. That one was tough.
