What drivers should I use with these........

I'm currently building a JGRO style CNC router and am looking at purchasing some motors and drivers for it. I have found the following motors, which appear to suit my needs, and am wondering if anyone has used these and if a suitable driver and power supply could be suggested.
I am confident in making simple PCB's, so it doesn't have to be a commercial type driver board. In fact, probably better if its 'home made' as SWMBO will see me making it and not ask - "How much did that cost?"

    Motors I have my eye on are;

    Option 1;
    Nema 23, 269 Oz-in Stepper Motor

    Model Number: 23H276-28-4B

    Specifications
    Size: Nema 23 (Size 57)
    Phase: 2 Phase
    Step Angle: 1.8 Degrees
    Voltage: 3.2V (65V Max)
    Current: 2.8A
    Resistance: 1.13ohm
    Inductance: 3.6mH
    Holding Torque: 269 Oz-in
    Dual Shaft
    Bipolar 4 Wire

    Option 2
    Nema 23, 387 Oz-in Stepper Motor

    Model Number: 24H290-35-4B

    Specifications
    Size: Nema 23 (Size 60)
    Phase: 2 Phase
    Step Angle: 1.8 Degrees
    Voltage: 3.5V (56V Max)
    Current: 3.5A
    Resistance: 1.0ohm
    Inductance: 2.8mH
    Holding Torque: 387 Oz-in
    Dual Shaft
    Bipolar 4 Wire

    Any help appreciated.

Looking at the 1x297805 stepper motor driver that Pminmo has on his site...........

    http://www.pminmo.com/forsale/1X279805.pdf

How will that go with these motors?

Hi guys im looking at building the 1X297805 Stepper Motor Driver. it seems relatively thorough in design .is it overkill for steppers i scavenged out of printers ? are there other boards i should look at? any advice ? this would be my first build.

    my steppers are:
    pm35s-048-hpl2
    pm55l-048-hpi3
    pm55l-048-hpb8
    pm35l-048-hpc8

im looking to build a 3-axis milling machine , using the two pm55l steppers at the base of my gantry.

I don't have an answer for a simpler design but I can say that I build three of the 1X297805 controllers and I've been happy with the result. The SMD capacitors worried me at first but they really didn't turn out to be that hard.

If you decide to build it I would recommend that you follow the suggestion in the instructions and build something like his clothes pin clamp for holding down the SMD components while soldering. I tried it the first time without the clamp and it was much harder.

thanx dogsop. I'll give it a go . One thing im curious about though. on the data sheets of my steppers there are stats for bi-polar and unipolar . i assume they can be connected both way's , but odd that the unipolar side has no amp rating.why is that? i get the feeling this might be a very dumb question though
