AutoCAD 2000 to AutoCAD LT 2010?

I'm in need of a CAD upgrade. I've been using 2000 since it came out and have never needed to upgrade. I don't draw in 3D and I don't need modeling. 2000 has worked well, despite some bugs. Now that both my computers are running Vista (one 32bit one 64bit) I can only run it on one machine. I can't print, help isn't functional, and there's a few other fun eccentricities.

So, time to upgrade a decade... This time around money is tighter than ever. I don't need the most amazing CAD package in the world. The 3D modeling happens in my head. I use the program for basic design and export DXF files to my CAM program.

Is there anything 2010 LT won't do that 2000 does?

    Thoughts?

Not familiar with 2010, but as long as you don't need 3D, mostly what you lose is customization ability with lisp and vba. If you don't use those either, then you'll probably gain functionality.

before I retired, we use 2000 at work also. now that I have cnc at home, I use the freeware version that can be found at http://www.progecad.com/

works just like 2000 and you can't beat the price!
