viper 200 tuning for SEM MT30M4-59 servo motor

Any clues as to a starting point on parameters for these dudes? MT30M4-59 motors running 140 volts. I have hyper terminal talking to the drives but at this early point am clueless as to the majority of the parameters and would greatly appreciate the shortcut. I am using 1000 line encoders so I understand that the encoder trip limit will be t4000 but the rest of the parameters are as overwhelming as the first microprocessor I programmed. Anyhow, any help would be greatly appreciated, but I also understand that the journey is important as to understanding the way it works.

For tuning, there are just 4 parameters you need to adjust The P, I D and L

(Read the (latest) manual and see where it tells about tuning the motor. )

With no bank jumpers the motor should hold. Is it holding ?

    Start with p200 d400 i4

The L parameter (loop time) needs to be set early in tuning because it
matches the motors mass. the range for L for your motor would be 3-7. Set this for the deadest responce when you disturb the motor.

The other parameters (range, trip, feedforward) can be set after you have the motor stable.

Thanks much Larry I'm a ways from actually putting the 140V to the drives yet as I am machining the remaining two encoder mounts and setting those up but I had the drive and power plate in the house on the kitchen table and was getting used to the programming sequence. Again Thank you for the help Sir! Wayne
