Machinists,

I am making a high speed secondary spindle for my cnc mill. I have a Rotozip that I'd like to use.

My concern is deflection of the endmill in aluminum. Or basically the lack of rigidity of the stock bearings. Has anyone built a spindle extension that can be supported by another bearing?

My thoughts were to get a piece of drill rod and chuck it in the RZ's collet then buy a second collet and machine the end to basically make it another collet. The bearing support would then be added to stabilize the drill rod and therefore the end mill.

Any other ideas?

Regards,
MM
