    Victor Lathe Manuals For Spindle

    Hi, Roundie here.

It's been awhile since I,ve checked out the site, But now I could use some
    help.
    I bought a 1630 Victor Lathe, about 1975 vintage I belive.
Every thing works but spindle runout is excesive. (about .012 TIR at D-6 camlock) I belive spindle may be bent. Would like to find a manual or maybe
a PDF download. Need to find out how to remove camlock and maybe remove
spinde. Any help would be good. Thanks, Roundie

If nobody here has it, try http://www.lathes.co.uk. Sometimes you can also buy manuals from E-bay. If you're lucky perhaps http://shorl.com/kykustodahuvu could send you some kind of copy.

I have a Victor 1640 lathe of about the same vintage, and was able to get a part manual and spare parts to fix it up from a company in California that handles those machines now. I'll have to see if I can locate the information, it's been two years since I got the machine and fixed the busted cross slide nut and handles.

OK, looks like this is the place to go:

    http://www.victormachines.com

I remember well now calling "machinery solutions". The woman I spoke with was obviously of Asian descent, and very hard to communicate with. I hope things have changed. I got what I needed but it took a lot of phone calls.

BTW, I got lucky in the the spindle on mine runs true. A Pratt Burnerd Super Precision 3-jaw chuck runs a piece of ground test material within .0003"! The bad part on mine is the ways. Worn quite a bit up near the spindle, I get poor surface finish on light cuts.
