Can someone tell me if this lathe can operate in both axis at the same time?
I am looking for something to make tapered threads.

    thanks

If that machine couldn't work on both axes at the same time it would be a paper weight, Just put the X and Z moves in the same line, but there are about 10 different ways (more complicated but simple enough) to do it.

    G1 X.5Z0
    X.75Z-1.5

There you have a tapered pin

And for the threads just use an I value

Thanks a lot! I suspected it was capable of doing that , just needed confirmation.

If you know the "Included Angle" of the thread, use the "A" command within the G71 cycle. Where A is the included angle.
If you are trying to correct taper in a thread, i.e. make a parallel thread, measure the diameter at each end of the thread and then set the amount of difference/2 in an I value. Obviously a positive value in I will increase the diameter at the end of the thread and a negative I value will reduce the thread diameter at the end of the thread.
Be aware that the I value is an incremental value and is the amount of movement you require on RADIUS over the length of the thread.
    Cheers
