    Setting Backlash with Turbocnc

    Hello group,

I am running a Taig mill with Turbocnc and have noticed I have a backlash problem with the machine and have tried to adjust it on the machine and have not quite got it all worked out.

My first question is, what is the best way to measure backlash to see exactly how much the machine is out?

Then do I just type the amount it is out into the correct place in Turbocnc?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Eric

Hoss did an excellent video a while back on how to measure backlash. Try doing a search to find it. Then yes, type the amount in in the ini file and don't forget to reset the port before you try it.
Remember, backlash setting in software is for a very minor amount, your best bet is to eleminate it to begin with.

    Thanks Bubba,

I have tried to eliminate the backlash on the machine to the point of about pulling my hair out so I will try to fix it in the software until I feel like giving it another go at the machine.
