G74 command format for Melda 520L control

Here's a real newbie question. How do I program a G74 peck drilling cycle on a Mitsubishi Melda 520L control mounted on a Daewoo 8s lathe? Apparently its not like the Fadal std. A simple programming example would be a huge help. Thanks. Dave

I don't have a 520L programming manual, but this is from the 700/70 Series:

Let's say you want to drill 2" deep with 1/2" pecks and a 0.02 chip-break.

    G00 X0 Z0.1
    G74 R0.02
    G74 Z-2.0 Q0.5 F0.012

Thanks. I'll try that out tomorrow. Its funny with all the little quirks I've worked through on this machine I gave up trying to figure out this cycle.

Will this also work on a Fanuc style control?

I believe it will if you change the Q0.5 to Q5000

Here's where it gets real interesting.......

It turns out that the inherent controller programs for G74, 75 ect on my machines don't match whats in the meau instruction manual. To make things more interesting, when I output the programs that on the control, I see a different program on the machine screen than whats output. :O

The guys at Daewoo and Mitsubishi have been very helpful and I'm waiting here back from Mitsubishi on how to rectify this. They seemed a bit boggled by the episode but one of the Daewoo tech guys seemed to remember something like this happening before. Never a dull moment in my shop....

    Thanks for the help guys.
