Ask Hurco for another set of disks to suit your machine. You can not do anything without disks.
What happened to the disks that came with your machine?

It sounds like you have the wrong software for your machine. V2.21 would have been available on the earlier BMC range. The VMX range were later in software builds.
The V2.21 software will not have a VX64440.MCD or similar MCD in it's listings so will not have the correct files to run.
You will need V2.3x software to run that.

In the BIOS, set the HDD type to CHS then set the parameters for cylinders, head, sectors.
Then change the HDD type to LBA. Exit and save.
Use FDISK to set the partitions as above. This will make the HDD the correct size.
