    NM-070 Travels

Question for the NM-070 owners out there: is the listed 4.3" Y travel real? Is there a way to increase it at all?

I'm looking at getting either a 135 or a 070. The 070 will do everything I need, except for the Y travel. The extra $2000 means I would have to wait quite a while longer to buy a NM-135.

the spindle centre to the column way cover is about 4.75", so increasing the table travel doesnt necessarily do anything useful.

for the record though, my kx1 (gen 1, but more or less the same) has 5.5" from spindle centre to column face without the bellows. the saddle will move 5.5" safely (it actually runs out over 8" but your pretty much off the dovetails so its stupid).

you could put a 1" spacer block on the head to increase the usable travel to 5.5". id not recomend trying to squeeze more out because it creates alot of leverage on the Z dovetail, and with the drive screw behind the column makes for a type of mechanical backlash that can be bothersome.
