    Sanyo denki P5

    hello

    i bought this P50B04010DXS07 servo motor.

    sadly it didnt have commutation that my old sanyo denki amp
    need.
    took the motor apart and noticed u v w on the encoder card.
    is it just a matter of soldering cables to the u v w or is there
    something more to think about?
    if i have a scope can i check the commutation signals someway?

    It looks like the disc has commutation tracks, if the encoder is made for the same pole count as the motor is, you should be able to use the three tracks.

    I wouldn't be surprised if your encoder has the hall signals. Sanyo doesn't appear to use the hall signals with some/many of their servo motor/drive packages. But this doesn't mean the signals aren't still there. I have several P50B08100VCKS7 motors that have both encoder ABC and hall UVW signals but nowhere are the hall signals documented in the data sheet for this motor. The encoder electronics may be common between different motors, Difference only being how many wires they bring out.

    To answer your question: Yes, but you don't need an o-scope. All you need is a logic indicator common on any digital multi-meter. Solder lines to the leads, reassemble and watch the UVW outputs one at a time as you turn the shaft of the motor. Pretty sure you should get one pulse per channel per revolution.

    Let us know what your results are.

    This will depend on the pole count of the motor, e.g. a 8 pole motor will have four pulses/rev per commutation output.
    Or 4 electrical revolutions per 1 mechanical rev.

    Thanks for answers!!!

    i have soldered cables to the what i belive is the right place on
    the tiny pcb u,v,w but no signals are getting output.
    when i turn the motor just 5 volt are present.

    maybe there is to be some subsequent electronics
    afterall.
    some kind of amplifieing circuit.

    Hello,

    I have several Sanyo Denki motors with just incremental encoders and no hall sensors. Did you ever figure out how to make them work?
