I have been streamlining my operations lately and would like some of the things to come up to my preset defaults like, I want MC to use my Haas post instead of the MPFan post all the time without me selecting it every time.. I also have made a sort of "standard tool list" for my machine. I would like to call up a 1/2 square end mill and it come up as tool 16 and the feeds and speeds, clearances and feed planes be to my settings not MC's. Is this possable? I know it is, I mean is it possable for you to enlighten me?

As far as changing the default post file, there are 2 ways of doing it.

#1, AFTER saving a copy, open mill9.cfg in a text editor such as notepad, and change question #550 to the name of the post file, without the .pst extension, that you want to be the default post.

#2, The prefered way is, AFTER saving a copy of mill9.cfg, go Screen,Configure,Files tab, in the file usage box on the right, highlight 'Post processor', then click the file open button to the right of the post file name.
There you can select the post file you want to be the default.

My personal rule #1 is NEVER make changes to the config file with a part file open.
Some config settings CAN change as you are working on a part.
It is safest to do a File,New BEFORE changing the config file.

Screen - Configure - Files (tab).
In the right side box (File Usage), select Postprocessor, click on the file cabinet next to the post name and select your file.

Tool Library and Setup Sheet default is also in that section.

Thanks for the help Matt, I own your complete set of training software for v9. I'm sorry but I still am not understanding how to make the tool numbers and associated tools with feeds and speeds the defaults. Can you be any more specific? I see the tools.tl9 file, but thats it. How do I make a new library? If I missed it in the training cds which one is it in? Thanks alot.
