I've been reading up on how to limit the Z axis, so that Mach3 does not cut into the table.
I'm now thoroughly confused between the uses of the term "limit". I understand hard and soft limits, and that they tend to be implemented to shut the machine down when reached.
I thought that Mach3 offered a facility where you could specify a cut-off point in the Z axis, so that regardless of GCode instructions, the tool would not cut any lower than this set point. More importantly the machine would finish the cut, rather than shut down if this limit was reached.
Is this the case, or do I have it wrong?
