    Clamp Unclamp Problem VMC

We have a Mighty Viper VMC 2100 with Fanuc 18I controls. Ok here’s the issue, we’re trying to pick up a dual angle head off the table. Do to the weight and length we had to make a cradle for the tooling to mount to the table. The problem is that I can’t clamp or unclamp on the head without getting a “1013 Tool Clamp Abnormal” error. We are trying to get a sub wrote using M10-M11. Inputting this in MDI as M10 or M11 will physically Open or Close the spindle but with the error and it doesn’t matter were the spindle is (I.E on the table or in the standard tool change position). Is there a parameter that I have to shut off using G10-G11, or is there another M code set I’m missing that will work?

    TIA

I can't recall exactly how I had done this back in 1998, but I do recall that I had simply unlocked the 9*00 toolchange macro and used the coding in it as a basis to start from. We were using a right angle head and home-made cradle that sounds just like your situation, you might try to review for help.

What series of 18i control do you have? I don't know what parameter it is for that, but I can look it up if I have the correct manual - looks like I have the manuals for the A series 18i control only. If you have the parameter manual (it may be in the maintenance manual) look for the 9000 program lockout parameter.

I don't have a machine with that control at the shop I'm working at now, so I'm not terribly familiar with it anymore.

Which version of the FANUC 18i-M was out from 1997 to 2002?

Would like to know because I'm planning on addinng one to my shop very soon.

    Was it the 18i-M "B" or "B5"?

If so which are the "B" series 18i manuals?

Best thing to do, is to buy a copy of CNC quaero from your local Fanuc office. Ask for the MTB version, the end user copy has no params in it. It has every manual type (param - op - function - etc) for every control made since the 0-M. We can get a copy for £50.

If you post your ladder here I will tell you why the alarm is occuring and how to bypass it

    to output your ladder
    with Sram card
    SYSTEM -> PMC -. I/O

Ensure MEMORY CARD and WRITE are selected

    push

    EXEC

you can do this with RS232 by changing MEMORY CARD to RS232

    RS232 P20 = 0 or 1
    SRAMCARD P20 = 4

    file output should be called
