    Slow Spindle Speed

My X3 won't reach max speed 3500rpm only 3000rpm, have checked spindle pully in Mach and is set at 3500 max, have tried in manual mode and still slow, so therefore suspect electrics on mill.
Anyone got any thoughts as to problem.

    Regards

    Question Measured how?

How have you measured the speed? Is it an accurate reading?

The readout is at 3000 +/- 100, and I know the sound it is quite distingtive at top speed, I use small cutters so I need top speed

    Various models

There is a maximum speed and minimum speed pot probably on front panel PCB.
    Sometimes on motor PCB assembly.

I assume you are running on 240v, so the bus voltage near top of motor PCB should be about 330v. Don't zap yourself!

A few photos of your main PCB and front panel PCB would help identify model.

TURN OFF POWER before removing front panel assembly.
One short circuit to the DRO (which is too close to the PCB) and you'll probably kill many components.

    M5 screws.

There are 2 M5 socket head screws from the top cover -- wrong..
remove the screw holding the display on (each side of head)
The wires usually fairly short and need unplugging as you remove the front stuff.

Problem solved a turn of the fast speed screw did the trick. although I don't have a tach you can hear motor running faster and DRO reads higher.
But why did speed ruduce in the first place? vibration maybe!!.
Out of interest how are your machines doing, given all the glitches the early X3's had, are you tempted with Syil's latest offerings?
Thanks Neil and Chris for your help.

    Cheers

    Crook capacitor?

Look for leaky small capacitors (electrolytic)
Replace any near the trim pots.
