    Heidenhain TNC310 RS232

Has anyone used anything but the TNCremo? Heidenhains DNC software. I have to go out of town to a customer to set up his RS232 and have never done setup on TNC310. I want to use one of my regular pgm's.

    Al,

I don't have a lot of experience with heidenhain, but I have set up their TNCremo on a couple of machines. I have seen configurations for it on some of the DNC software I've come across. The one that comes to mind is ProEZdnc. But I've only used the TNCremo, it's really pretty easy to set up. The only problem I had was figuring out that when you call up program to run in DNC mode, the file has to be in a particular format. I ended up figuring this out by sending a program out of the control and looking at the format it was in. The control was fussy about the format of the first couple of lines in the program.

    Regards,
    Scott

With TNCRemo you can request for programms stored on a PC directly from the control. You can also do this through the network by installing a Serial Device Server on the machine. The PC can then be located anywhere on your network and your are not limited by distance of the RS 232. We use this systems on our TNC 155 and 416 controls.

Predator DNC support Heidenhain and also includes the Heidenhain Protocol - also known as Blockwise. You must use Blockwise on the CNC to drip feed to the control. Predator can DNC or remote to the Heindenhain controls with ease.

The biggest advantage that TNC Remo has on other softwares is that it can be downloaded from the Heidenhain website for free.

I ended up using the free one from Cadem and it worked OK.
