Help setting work shift offset in LX3 ?

I am not quite grasping how the work offset is set with the LX3 controller.

In my other turning centers you simply bring the tool up to the end of the stock , touch the end of the part , and press the work offset button and the values are entered .

Could someone give me an Idiots primer on setting work offset with the LX3/kt15?

I press the offset button and go to the workshift page. The value in X is 10.6. I can enter z** and the offset will change to whatever value is entered at ** . Why cant the X be changed ?

On the LX3.. to set the Z axis offset after touching off front of part:

    Use P0 then input

This will set the zero automatically.

Also, if you touch off the front of the part and want to set the machine to take off .010 off the face, you just input P.010 and it will automatically set the Z in .010.

As for your other post, the x axis can only be changed in the parameters.
We have had these machines for about 15 years and never had to change the "x" axis.

    Hope this helps

The workshift of the X axis doesnt change, since the X0 is the center of the spindle.
