Dyna Myte 3000 found a new home!

I just did a whirlwind 700 mile roundtrip to bring home my new conversion/restoration/refit project "A DYNA MYTE 3000. Expect a full color review with close ups and documentation. Probably going the G540 route and possibly with a smoothstepper. Much more to be done. Any way expect childlike enthusiasm for the next few months.Cya and Thanks to Scott on the lathe. Watch the build and be happy she is loved.

    Watching with interest

I purchased the same lathe a few years ago and plan to do a conversion. I will watch yours with interest. I am stuck in Mongolia for a couple more years and this will give me something to look forward to. Good luck.

I will do my best to document the build. Maybe an introductory video on youtube.

Did you know about the Yahoo Group for Dyna owners? It loooks like it has about 60 members as of right now.

I didnt even pay attention to where it is. If it was missing some parts I would look more into it. Looks to nice to convert as is. I am not going to use 1980 electronics.

Yeah, I was referring to the 2400 you told me about. It looks like a nice mill but the seller hasn't replied to any of my questions yet. I'm on the yahoo 3000 group, not the mill group. It looks like you've done your homework on the lathe.

Was that the Dyna Myte 3000 that was on eBay a few days ago?

I was looking at that one but the drive was just too far.

I forgot to ask... what size of spindle motor is on the 3000?

Seems to be an SEM MT30 (148vdc motor). I actually picked it up in Louisiana but yes it was the 1 on ebay. She cleaned up very well so far on day 1. No real surprises regarding missing parts or damage. The surprises were just how sturdy this machine was built. Coming from a Sherline, this stuff doesnt look flexible at all. I will be posting pictures of the phases. Stay tuned. John

wow two of these on ebay in the past month! i bid on the first one, but it looks like you may have gotten a better deal on yours.

I think its a great foundation. I was under the impression they were servo driven, but i see the auction says steppers.

I don't know what you used to clean it with, but it looks like brand new in the after pictures. Can't wait to see the build thread.

Hot water and soap immediately followed with AIR, WD40, then way oil. A little more work around the toolchanger and it would look brand new. Maybe when its finished we could work a deal where I make some of your suspension or carb parts LOL. Stay tuned.

As long as someone is selling the parts, I will figure out how to make them! Did the manual or parts ever show up?
