    Kia turn15 download to surfcam

    Anybody using surfcam to upload and download to a Kia lathe with a Yasnak control. I have gotten it to download to computer but cannot upload to machine. We are off of our maintanance contract with surfcam so I'd have to pay for them to come out, just trying to see what I can do without having to call them out. I am using SurfCam 2002plus and using the DNC feature in the PredatorEditor.

    What happens when you try to send to the Yasnac?

    Nothing, the "in" on the display just keeps blinking. No error message. 1st line of program is "%" 2nd line is program #. Although when the computer reads the downloaded program it drops the "%" sign and the "O#"

    Some thoughts:

    Does this cable work with other machines? If not, it could be a bad connection.
    Check the cable with an Ohm meter (pin 2-2 and 3-3).

    Does Predator appear to send the program out, or is it waiting? Could be you have it set to wait for an XON (See attached). If it waits, try unplugging the cable from the CNC and resend the program to see if Predator waits.

    I will check the cable, it is a new cable though. This is the only machine in which I use the rs232, all others are on ethernet connection. Predator seems to be sending program out.

    Can I assume this is a Yasnac LX-3?

    What are the values for setting #6003 bits 0&1 (IDVCE), and bits 4&5 (ODVCE)? The bits are numbered 0 to 7 starting on the right:

    7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0

    Also, what are the values for parameters 6026, 6027, 6028, and 6029 bits 0 through 5?

    Also, what are the settings in your Predator Editor DNC Properties dialog? (See attachment with previous post)?

    Yes this is a Yasnak LX-3.
    6003=01000100
    6026=011000
    6027=011000
    6028=011000
    6029=011000

    Screen shot of the predator screen to follow, will not upload at this time.

    1. You have Predator set to "Wait for CNC" which means you send from Predator then start the receive at the machine.

    2. You have Parity set to Odd. I've always used Even.

    3. Setting 6003 bits 5&4 and 1&0 are all 0's. I believe you want 01 and 01 in both. This selects RS-232 for both Input and Output, and uses parameter 6026 and 6028 for input and output.

    Parameter 6026 is set to 11000 which is 2 stop bits and 2400 baud. You have Predator set to 4800 baud. Try setting 6026 to 11001 (4800 baud). Same for 6028.

    SUCCESS!!!!

    Thanks man! unchecked the "wait for cnc", changed the parity to "even" & it worked. I really appreciate the time you spent helping me on this issue. If you were here closer, I'd have to buy you a cold one or 12. Again, MUCH appreciated!!!!!

    We're in Huntsville, Alabama. We are right in the middle of a huge gov/military area. We deal mostly with the electronics industry designing and building fixturing and tooling for printed circuit board manufacturers. Over the past couple of years we have gotten into the mil/aero building. Last year we build 13 nano satellites for the Army, 1st sats bought by the Army in 50 years, they were about the size of a loaf of bread. Check us out @ www.agicorp.com

    Many thanks,
    Kent Wilkerson
