Contouring a face profile using lathe

Using X2 with an older lathe with only X, Z, and Spindle.
I need to face contour a profile but the only references I can find are dealing with a "C" axis which always gets me into a mill operation.

Could someone please give me some guidance for contouring the face of the attached part?

I plan on using 3 triangle shape tools. Right, Left, and straight.

    Many thanks,

    CEM

Toolpath lathe face rought -> and pick the custom groove tool. The round single point grooving tool working out pretty good.

If I go to toolpaths, I can select rough or face but not face, rough.

If I do toolpaths, rough and then chain the face contour and select a round nose grooving tool. I keep getting a message of chuck collision. I only chained the face contour and omitted the od segment.

The toolpath representation shows a heavy incursion into the face if I tell it to go ahead and create the toolpath after the collision message.

Cowpoke have you gotten this figured out or would you still like help. Check your plunge parameters if I understand you correctly this should help out.

    Thanks for the help

Finally finished the face grooving part. My not fully understanding how the plunge parameters function was the primary problem. I did however have to eliminate the 3 small round bottom grooves in each of the larger grooves and then do them with a separate operation. For some reason the roughing pass with a wide groove tool was trying to partially follow the small grooves and making an extra deep groove within the wider groove. Hope that makes sense.
Anyway I did get it finished with a work around.
Would still be interested if someone could explain why I had to eliminate the small round bottom grooves in the contour to get it completed.
Thanks much for the help all,
    Claude
