    Stepper Motor Driver Selection

    Dear forum user,

Once again I have a question that requires your profound knowledge. For a project I am currently working on, I am using 2 Nema 23 stepper motors that run at 24V, 2Amp peak current per phase. I am currently looking to use a stepper driver to control them to move with the code I have written. However, when I looked for a suitable driver on Google, I could not find any other stepper driver except the MA860H (https://www.oyostepper.es/goods-118-...7-Nema-42.html). Therefore,

I would like to ask if any of you have experience driving more powerful stepper motors and can recommend a stepper driver that I can use.

Thanks in advance for all the help

    Re: Stepper Motor Driver Selection

A 2A stepper can be driven by a DM542, DM556 or a step stick driver like the TMC2209 (my preferred choice for this current).

If you can adapt your code to run on an ESP32 you could consider an MKS-TinyBee board that can fit 5 stepstick drivers. It is also suitable for external drivers.

The MA860H driver is no suitable because the lowest peak current you can set is on this driver is 2.8A. It will overheat your steppers in a few minutes.
