    T.Align switch

Amada turret punches have diferent switches on a control board (in our case named VIP-11) which handle some output status. Particularly there is one switch called T.Align which turns off the hydraulic pump. Amada advises to leave it on the OFF position. The ON position means that the pump will be turned OFF if the Tool change switch is turned to ON (and viceversa).

What are the possible drawbacks of ignoring Amada´s advice and leave the T.Align switch on the ON position ? Having the pump working while changing the tools or loading a program to the CNC does not look like it is helping too much. Besides the noise of the pump is quite annoying.

    Hi

Alignment of stations usually take more time than setting up a tool. So you should use the tool align key when you are doing so.

In case you want to turn hydraulic unit off while setting up a tool.
1-You are preventing oil cooling process in off time.
2-And specially in some models that the hydraulic motor is not starting by star-delta method, the shock of every stop-start is higher than you think!

Simply as Amada advised keep ToolAlign key at off position .

    Thanks for your comments.

So, basically there are no safety issues involved, right ?

We were actually thinking that pump on was desirable to keep oil warm enough, not to cool it. But either way, it keeps the heat exchanger busy :-)

Pump motor power is rated 18.5 kw. So having a 24 hp motor running while loading a program to the CNC looks "weird". So basically you leave the machine working the whole shift ?

    Regards
