Powered up machine that has been sitting under power for a while. When it starts boot up the screen shows this “searching for languages…checking usb”. A few other threads showed needing batteries replaced, so I did that while machine powered up. Still obviously same issue. The machine did not come with usb back up. Anyone got ideas on next steps? Not wanting to run up huge service bill.

Are you saying your machine has an original floppy drive and no USB, but it is checking for an USB?
or
Your machine has an original USB drive with that error message?
or
The floppy has been removed and a USB floppy drive emulator has been installed?

Has original USB that is still intact.

I'm guessing you tried to start up with a USB inserted? Re-start without it. IMHO, seems like the USB is corrupted.Try a new USB stick. "Searching for language" is one of the first boot-up instructions. The boot instruction may have been corrupted by "low battery" or during the battery change and that unfortunately may require a call to your HFO. All the best.

I mis understood what you were asking, there is a USB port that has nothing in it. Another thread I read with a similar issue makes it seem like the control is looking for a usb to be inserted for it to download a language file.
