    x-axis only travels 1 way

hi, i am a complete noob here so my apologies in advance for the silly questions that i will undoubtedly ask in the near future!

i bought a used mill this weekend as a complete novice. my reason for doing so is that the cost of the machine was a couple hundred bucks more than the quotes for parts i want to get made this winter so i figured i would spend a bit more and learn a new skill.

when i met the seller he said that the x axis sometimes only goes 1 way but it was working when i was there (witnessed that it did). he told me what to do when it decided to malfunction. however, i got it up and moving today and the refuses to jog in both directions. the seller has been pretty great about answering my texts post sale but what worked for him ain't werkin for me!

it's running mach 3 software. seller suggests mach3 is the issue as it didin't do this prior to it's installation.

y and z axes work as intended. seller suggests i reinstall mach3. any other suggestions?

any help is appreciated but please speak slowly, i'm dumb lol.

Look for a loose or missing wire, or a bad connection in that axis' wiring.

Yeah i am starting to comb thru it. Because it worked properly initially when i arrived at the seller's, then software could be ruled out? Not knowing a huge amount about how they work, it seems weird that a loose connection wpuld cause the same function to have 2 buttons effectively??

I don't think it had moved much untill i packed it into the back of the minivan on saturday...it may not have liked the 3 hour journey home?

Will keep poking it with a stick...
