I recently purchased a Yaskawa Servo Motor model number SGMGH-44A2A6B and a Yaskawa Servo Amp model number SGDS-75A12A at an auction. I want to use them in a lathe retrofit project, so I only need to control the direction and speed of the servo motor.

Can you provide recommendations on the motion controller that could take the analog (rheostat and switches) to drive the servo amp and motor?

The servo amp is oversized quite a bit, so if I could find a third party driver that would be better suited for the project and drive the 4.4 kw motor, I would make that work as well.

how about posting the manual for the drive?

I have done exactly as you want to do but with Delta servos and an Allen Bradley servo.
All that is required is that you program the drive to be in analogue velocity mode, be able to Enable or otherwise turn the servo drive on and provide a 0-10V analogue signal.

Hi,
do you have the means to program the drive? It looks like there is a handheld device you can plug in to program it, or you can use a PC to do so.
Do you have the programming software?
