SPRING Technologies, makers of machine tool simulation and verification software, joins Hexagon

21/06/2018, SPRING Technologies, a provider of software to increase the productivity of machine tools, announces its acquisition by Hexagon AB, a global leader in digital solutions. SPRING Technologies' NCSIMUL Solutions are in use at major OEMs and suppliers worldwide, helping streamline the manufacturing process through the optimisation of machine tool performance and productivity.

For 30 years, SPRING Technologies has been pioneering innovative Computer Numerical Control (CNC) solutions for machine tools. Its flagship portfolio, NCSIMUL, is a comprehensive suite of integrated solutions providing native CNC code programming, CNC simulation, cutting and tool libraries, CNC program management, real-time machine monitoring and technical content publication. Together, they enable complete mastery of the machining process across a variety of manufacturing sectors including aerospace, automotive, medical, energy, and transportation.

I'm really happy to join the Hexagon team, with whom we share the same Industry 4.0 vision,” said Gilles Battier, CEO and owner of SPRING Technologies. “This is great news for all our customers, who will continue to use their usual CAM solutions, whatever they are, and for all our partners who have trusted us in distributing our solutions around the world. In addition, we will be stronger and continue to support them around the world with a broader portfolio of solutions. I am also very proud and enthusiastic for my team. This acquisition, by one of the leaders in digital technologies, confirms that NCSIMUL is really the most innovative solution to help all manufacturers to improve their Overall Equipment Effectiveness with our global anti-collision, cycle time reduction and monitoring capabilities, regardless of their machining complexity and end market. We will keep on developing robust, efficient and simple solutions for intelligent CNC machining.

Manufacturing must be ‘smart' if it's to produce the next generation of products at reduced costs. The acquisition of SPRING Technologies further strengthens our Autonomous Connected Ecosystem (ACE) strategy which will ultimately enable the smart factory,” said Ola Rollén, Hexagon's President and CEO. “Machining simulation is essential in connecting the physical world with the digital and achieving autonomy – both of which are prerequisites to delivering smart factory solutions.

Headquartered in France, with offices in America, Germany and China, SPRING Technologies employs around 100 people. The company will operate within Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division as part of the CAD/CAM and production software business currently led by the Vero Software brand.
