intec and Z Close Their Doors With More Visitors

Leipzig's trade fair duo intec and Z registered more than 21,000 visitors in attendance for the first time. From Feb. 26 to Mar. 1, 2013, 21,400 visitors from 27 countries were on hand to gather information at the industrial trade fairs (2011: 20,800 visitors from 22 countries). 1,352 exhibitors from 29 countries displayed their range of services and innovative products during the course of the four days (2011: 1,345 exhibitors). "The intec and Z continue to grow," Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe GmbH, says with pride. "More exhibitors, more area and more trade visitors than ever before - with these good results, the two trade fairs further demonstrate their position as one of the most important events of the manufacturing industry and supply sector."

The product range of intec's exhibitors primarily includes machine tools, special-purpose machines, tools, tool systems, devices, machine components and laser systems for processing materials. The exhibitors of the Z - Subcontracting Fair mainly presented their supply services for machinery and vehicle construction as well as for plastics technology, medical technology and power plant construction.

Good business connections at trade fair stands

"The intec and Z have once again proved that they are an ideal platform for forging promising business connections," explains Geisenberger. "The exhibitors have already reported good follow-up business. The trade fairs are not only aimed at providing a comprehensive overview of the market but also at facilitating tangible investment decisions."

The productive atmosphere of intec and Z - Subcontracting Fair was also praised by exhibitors. Christian Mirring, Managing Director of the machine tool manufacturer DMG Mori Seiki Berlin, explains: "We had many visitors at our stand, who were very qualified. And many wonderful new projects are already being planned and will be continued after the trade fair. It is very evident that the trade fair's area of influence has grown larger," adds Burkhard Braas, Director of Marketing and Media at Ingersoll Werkzeuge GmbH: "All expectations were exceeded. We participated in intec for the first time with our own stand, which was definitely the right decision. intec has become a national trade fair, which was obvious based on the interests shown by visitors at our trade fair stand."

Bernhard Mantel, Trade/Sales Representative at CITIZEN MACHINERY EUROPE GmbH, had the following to say about the trade fair: "We had many interesting discussions, suggesting clear purchase plans. The synergy with Z - Subcontracting Fair is very good for our business which is why we are anticipating additional purchase orders after the trade fair. Our overall assessment is very positive and thus we will be on hand once again at intec in 2015."

The exhibitors also complimented the cross-border exchange. For instance, Marzia Bianciotto, from the Italian supplier Tecnomolle, added: "We were at the Z - Subcontracting Fair for the first time. Actually it was the first time that we were at a trade fair in Germany. Our stand was visited by many professionals and purchasers and we are looking forward to further business relations."

Günter Hofmann, Managing Director of HOFMANN tool manufacturing and President of Bundesfachgruppe Feinmechaniker, was also on hand at Z 2013 as an exhibitor: "We were very satisfied with the flow of visitors at our stand within the community stand of Bundesverband Metall. We developed promising contacts with discussions ranging from initial interest in obtaining information to concluding contracts. The Z is an important event for cultivating contacts in Germany."

This feedback was confirmed by a representative survey. The exhibitors awarded the highest scores possible for all key questions, especially with regard to prospects for follow-up business after the trade fair, quality of visitors and plans about participating again.

Visitors upbeat about positive results

The visitor profile underlined the specialized nature of the trade fair. For example, 98% of the visitors in attendance were specialists and professionals from relevant segments. According to the visitor survey, they were impressed by the range of products and services presented. 80% of the visitors questioned indicated that they were able to fulfill the objectives they had set for the trade fairs. Almost 90% are planning to attend the next intec and Z, with the same amount indicating that they would further recommend the trade fairs to colleagues.

The substantial presence of international exhibitors also attracted additional trade visitors from abroad, especially from Poland and Czech Republic. The Z - Subcontracting Fair in particular scored well once again with its high international attendance. More than 30% of the exhibiting companies came from abroad to Leipzig.

"The intec and Z offered trade visitors the best possibilities for obtaining information about innovations and key topics in the industry," says Kersten Bunke-Njengué, Project Director of the intec and Z. "The high quality and the range of products and services exhibited form the basis for the success of the trade fairs." Parallel to the activities taking place in the exhibition halls, the intec and Z offered an extensive support program with conferences, presentations and special shows.

Students Day, which was on March 1, was very well received. Many students from vocational schools and universities took the opportunity to collect information about career prospects at the job fair that included 26 companies from all over Germany. They were also able to become acquainted with the latest machinery and manufacturing methods and cultivate contacts with potential employers in the exhibition halls.
