Partner for complete solutions for medical technology
The VDMA is the honorary sponsor and organiser of a joint booth at MedtecLIVE with T4M, which will take place this year in Nuremberg from 23 to 25 May 2023. Today, our exhibitor toolcraft presents itself with its products and solutions. We are looking forward to your visit in hall 1 stand 321c.
toolcraft offers expert knowledge from several technologies: Additive and subtractive manufacturing processes as well as individual automation options are part of the company portfolio. As a partner for complete solutions, the medium-sized family business covers the entire process chain in additive manufacturing, machining, injection moulding and mould making. In the field of robotics, fully programmed customer-specific integration solutions are implemented. In addition, intensive collaboration with cooperation partners as well as colleges, universities and research institutes is part of the company's philosophy.
Cross-technological competences
For more than 10 years toolcraft has been manufacturing additive components using the powder bed process (L-PBF). Meanwhile the owner-managed company also has a customised LMD system with powder nozzle from Trumpf with horizontal and vertical rotation axis. This enables, among other things, the application of coatings to existing components, the implementation of hybrid designs and the repair of defective components.
Further processing of the components also takes place at toolcraft: In the machining department, additively manufactured raw parts are refined into the finished functional component. In addition, various furnaces - including a vacuum furnace - are available for heat treatment. With the help of a modern system for technical cleaning, the finished components are precision-cleaned and packaged according to customer specifications, whereby absolute cleanliness can be guaranteed.
In the Injection Moulding and Mould Making divisions, complete solutions are implemented for precision components made of plastic and silicone: The moulded and injection-moulded parts in the small and micro parts sector are used in the medical and surgical sectors, among others. toolcraft has been complying with the DIN EN ISO 13485 standard in the field of medical technology since 2014. The certificate confirms a comprehensive quality management system for the production of surgical instruments according to customer specifications.
Integration solutions for robotic applications in all industrial sectors are implemented at toolcraft from
the initial idea to the finished end product in robotics. Uniform quality and precise repeatability are
achieved with fully programmed integration solutions. With the help of robotic cells, flexible application
options can be realised, from pick & place solutions to complex machining of a wide range of materials.
Filigree parts with a range of requirements for medical technology
High demands are placed on components for the medical industry in particular, and these must be met without compromise. As a component supplier for in-ear hearing aids, toolcraft was recently able to demonstrate its many years of expertise in medical technology and provide the complete process chain in mould making and injection moulding. The plastics needed to produce the extremely small parts posed a particular challenge. In addition, the moulds had to fulfil complex functions using compact inclined and underfloor sliders in a very confined space as well as inclined ejectors for snapping the halves of the hearing aid housing. The parts had to be produced without any burrs and the gap dimensions had to be observed precisely in order to form a surface that could be painted. toolcraft also mastered the optical requirements of the highly polished sub-areas of the filigree assembly and succeeded in making injection moulds with extremely complex demoulding mechanics ready for series production.
