German High Tech in Metal Working

Big names and technology leaders at Metalex 2019

Partner country involvement attracts German exhibitors to south-east Asia

There is great interest in the German High Tech in Metal Working sector event
within the framework of Germany's partner country participation at Metalex in
Bangkok (20 – 23 November 2019). Top German companies and technology
leaders such as CHIRON-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG, INDEX-Werke GmbH & Co. KG,
E. Zoller GmbH & Co. KG, Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik GmbH, GROB-WERKE
GmbH & Co. KG, Gühring KG and MAPAL Fabrik für Präzisionswerkzeuge Dr.
Kress KG will be represented at the largest metal-working trade fair in the ASEAN
region. Over 30 companies have already confirmed their participation at the
sector event, as they are convinced by the trade fair and market conditions.

For Andrew Parkin, Chief Representative Asia at Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik
GmbH, the development potential in south-east Asia is beyond question:
"Thailand and south-east Asia are often underestimated with regard to their
market potential. However, we have already recognised the current and future
potential.
At present, the market situation for us is stable." The market opportunities are
reason enough for Metalex to be a firm feature in the trade fair calendar of E.
Zoller GmbH & Co. KG: "The Thai and south-east Asian market has huge
development potential for us. Not without reason has Germany now also become
the partner country of Metalex in Bangkok, and supports German companies from
the metal-working sector," reports Atepat Tungkatacha, Director Zoller Thailand
Co., Ltd.

The joint participation provides both market experts and beginners with ideal
opportunities for gaining a foothold in the south-east Asian market.
In addition to an attractive placement of the joint stand, interpreter service and
German-speaking service personnel, a matchmaking feature ensures top-quality
business contacts and long-term trade fair success. Thanks to the partner country
participation, the German presence will be further enhanced with top level
political support on location.

Thailand's automobile industry as a key market

Roland Merz, Head of Sales for Asia at CHIRON Werke GmbH & Co. KG, is
convinced of Thailand's role as a key market: "With our trade fair participation this
year, we are again increasing our interest in south-east Asia, after a period of
greater activity in other regions. Here, Thailand is considered the pioneer in
automobile production. Other south-east Asian countries, such as Indonesia,

Malaysia and Vietnam, are also coming into focus for the international supplier
industry. At Metalex 2019, we primarily expect visitors from automobile suppliers
at our trade fair stand. At the same time, we look forward to welcoming interested
persons from the aerospace sector, medical technology, and employees from
university laboratories."

Andreas Hafner, Senior Area Sales Manager Cutting Tools at CeramTec GmbH,
also sees participation at Metalex as a positive factor for strengthening the
company's market presence and increasing sales: "ASEAN and especially
Thailand's economy has stabilised, letting us anticipate good development for the
long term. Impetus for growth comes from exports; the investment activity in
Thailand will also increase at a faster rate thanks to a programme for the targeted
promotion of ten industrial clusters with great export potential. We see very good
market potential in the ASEAN region, especially in Thailand, as here all important
car manufacturers and their suppliers produce on location, and there is also a very
good infrastructure."

Metalex impresses with its orientation and visitor quality

For over 30 years, Metalex has been the shop-window for production technology,
and takes place every year in November in Bangkok with over 930 exhibitors from
50 countries and almost 100,000 visitors. The product portfolio shown and also
the visitor quality are very impressive, as Atepat Tungkatacha, Director Zoller
Thailand Co., Ltd., reports: "Metalex is very important for us, as it is the largest
trade fair for the machine tool and metal-working industry in Thailand and
south-east Asia. In addition to metal-working and machine tools, the main
exhibition themes of relevance to us at this trade fair include tools and
automation." CeramTec also gives only a positive report of its last participation:
"We see Metalex as a leading metal-cutting trade fair for our potential customers.
From our participation in 2018 alone we gained over 50 new customers, which is
very good for CeramTec in this market," is the summary of Andreas Hafner, Senior
Area Sales Manager Cutting Tools at CeramTec GmbH.
