TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP

TCO – Why a machine tool’s price shouldn’t matter
When purchasing a new CNC machine tool, don’t get lost in comparing and analysing buying prices. Focus on the overall profitability of a machine, which of course also includes the purchasing price. But what’s more important is to check the total cost of ownership (TCO). While the purchasing price makes up roughly 15 % of the TCO, about 85 % of the TCO are caused by operating costs. With the customers’ profitability in mind, Okuma machine tools provide various properties that will help you minimise these costs.

Reliability and productivity are key
Okuma machine tools are known to be extremely reliable. Downtimes due to defects or maintenance and repairs rarely occur which maximises the utilisation. The artificial intelligence included in the CNC control helps to predict maintenance intervals which results in fewer and shorter idle times. Fast workpiece changeovers grant short production cycles and increased productivity. As every standstill costs you money, tool changes can be made as quickly as possible to reduce downtimes to a minimum.

High quality equals high costs?
You think outstanding production quality is pricy? The opposite is the case! Workpieces with a high surface quality and excellent dimensional accuracy don’t require mending or polishing. The result is less manual finishing and therefore substantially lower labour costs because you can use the parts immediately after machining. This leads to a significantly more economic manufacturing process.

Save energy and money!
With increased energy prices and a growing general environmental consciousness, saving energy makes sense in many ways. The applications included in Okuma’s ECO suite can help you save energy and money. By providing information on the machine’s energy consumption and stopping unnecessary, power-consuming operations, ECO suite effectively minimises the energy consumption of your manufacturing process.
