    Epoxy Granite VMC build (preview)

A friend of mine recently completed a VMC that doesn't require sending all the tonnage to machining after curing. Here's a preview. A full build video with BOM, pricing and CAD files of the project will come in the following weeks.

He's a little shy, I'm hoping I'll convince him to register and share the full video himself...

He doesn't seem shy in his videos and the amount he is asking everyone to share his videos in the comments is crazy,

I think this is you from the video again trying to get people to follow.

I'd be keen to see an indicator run across the linear rails to see how good they actually are without having them milled to spec.

    Watched the video before.

    Pros:
    He made something

    Cons:
Won't be nearly as good as he / others may think
No effort to prepare rail mounting surfaces. Used a dial indicator to check parallel horizontally, but nothing otherwise. Rails will not be flat, straight, or free of twist.
Pouring epoxy then stones in then mixing by hand...

Interesting theory but I would be using UHPC instead of EG and definitely not a VMC, not a fan of those...

Mineral castings look simple, but it's really hard to do well.

So there are many people who try to make mineral castings and do not stick to it in the end.

If you want to try it, please let me know and I will help you analyze it, so that you will take fewer detours from the structure and mold.

I don't know if you're still sticking to your project.
