OPM250L

Sodick's unique 3D manufacturing system combines 3D metal printing with linear motor-assisted HSC milling technology, presenting itself for the first time as the industrial one-step solution for 3D metal printing. The OPM250L is ideally suited for applications in the aerospace, automotive, defense and pharmaceutical industries. One of the new developments is the "parallel mode" - a function that controls the high-speed laser so quickly that it can sinter several positions simultaneously. The operation of the OPM250L is simply expressed as follows: First, a layer of metal powder is evenly distributed and melted and sintered with a laser beam guided by a scanner (this process can be repeated up to 10 times). The surface is then machined with a high-performance milling cutter to achieve the high level of quality, precision and surface finish that would not be possible with a laser process alone. Then the uniform application of the metal powder and the subsequent process are repeated until the geometric shape is completely generated. A further advantage is the combination of the linear motor drive system and the gantry design of the machine, whereby an extremely fast and backlash-free axis movement and thus excellent positioning and machining accuracy are achieved and at the same time machine twisting is minimized.
