    Trimming parts in assembly

    hi there all
    I am new to solidwork so i would like to know how it is done to trim 1 part to another in the assembly

    In the assemby
    - right click part to modify
    - click "edit part"
    - Insert a sketch on the face that will show the material to be removed as a closed lood ie a box.
    - Convert entities from the part that you want to match or attach sketch to points of the geometry.
    - extrude cut through all (or whatever).
    - turn off "edit part"

    Please do the tutorials provided with SW, these items are all WELL covered there. This would be done in top-down design.
