    Y AXIS WRONG DIRECTION

    Any HAAS tech,

I tried to home first thing in the morning and the Y axis started moving the wrong way, any clues?

Yes, the limit switch has malfunctioned. Depending on the age of the machine it is either a mechanical switch or an inductive sensor. If it is a pre-2005 machine (or somewhere around that date) it will be a mechancial switch which has just hung up in the activated position. On a more recent machine very often a chip will get stuck on the sensor keeping it activated. Either way you are going to have to take off the covers and find the switch/sensor.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

thanks for the help. I did locate what seems to be a switch and since it is not moving I am assuming it is inductive. and it glows (pilot light) without anything around.
