M2131
Walter AG
Crown inserts, exchangeable
Walter is setting the standards for HSC milling of aluminium alloys The new M2131 90° ramping milling cutter from Walter AG is equipped with a PVD-coated insert variant that is manufactured using the HiPIMS method. "HiPIMS" stands for "High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering". This physical process produces extremely dense and smooth PVD coatings. Advantages of the insert coating: Less friction and build-up on the cutting edge, higher resistance to flank face wear and very stable cutting edges. The benefit for the user: Maximum metal removal rates and long tool life! With cutting depths of 15 or 20 mm, the HiPIMS-coated inserts are ideal for ramping and pocket milling. The M2131 is impressive due to its high level of concentricity. The inserts are provided with integrated protection against centrifugal force. Inner coolant channels, which are suitable for both emulsion and minimum quantity lubrication, complete the precisely designed tool features. Increases in tool life of up to 200 percent can therefore be effortlessly achieved. The M2131 ramping milling cutter from Walter AG is particularly suitable for the HSC machining of aluminium materials, as well as for current aluminium-lithium alloys.

XNGX0705ANN-F67
Walter AG
Crown inserts, exchangeable
Product range expanded with new insert The new XNGX0705ANN-F67 finishing insert represents a significant expansion to the indexable insert range offered by precision tool manufacturer Walter AG. These inserts have been specifically developed for the Walter BLAXX M3024 heptagon face milling cutter, enabling it to now be used for finishing operations. The large number of cutting edges – 2 + 2 on the new finishing inserts and 16 on the roughing inserts– ensures high cost efficiency. Additional features of the new negative indexable inserts include excellent process reliability and soft cutting action due to the positive cutting edge geometry. These new finishing inserts open up an even wider range of applications for users of the Walter BLAXX M3024 heptagon face milling cutter. Semi-finishing and finishing operations can be combined into a single operation using a single tool – without adjusting the finishing cutting edges. This reduces the number of tools required and also reduces machining time by minimising time spent changing and adjusting tools. This combination of milling cutter and indexable inserts is exceptionally well-suited to industrial series production of components such as exhaust turbochargers or turbine blades, or any other components made from stainless steels, cast materials or steel.

Tiger·tec® Silver WSM45X
Walter AG
Crown inserts, exchangeable
eXtra performance – thanks to the new grade: Tiger·tec® Silver WSM45X High temperature resistance combined with high wear resistance, toughness and phenomenal hardness: These are the key features of the new inserts in the Tiger·tec® Silver WSM45X grade, which can boost performance by up to 67% more than other comparable tools. The special Tiger·tec® Silver surface treatment and the high-performance substrate ensure maximum process reliability when working with materials that have difficult cutting properties, such as titanium alloys. The unique Al2O3 coating enables users to increase their productivity when machining – especially when using materials that are difficult to cut. The surfaces are also extremely flat, which help to significantly reduce built up edge. Yet another benefit of the two-tone Tiger·tec® Silver coating is that it allows users to identify wear quickly and thus make sure that all cutting edges are used efficiently. The indexable inserts in the Tiger·tec® Silver WSM45X grade are available for all popular Xtra·tec® and new M4000 face and shoulder mills, and the Walter F2334 copy milling cutter. WSM45X is also particularly well-suited to machining stainless steels (ISO M) and difficult-to-cut materials (ISO S). Typical components include exhaust-gas turbo chargers, turbine blades and titanium frames for use in the aerospace industry.

M4000
Walter AG
Crown inserts, exchangeable
Universal just became even more universal Walter AG's range of system inserts for its universal M4000 milling system has been updated to incorporate a whole new application: Thanks to the new G88 indexable insert geometry, the system has expanded its scope to include the machining of non-ferrous metals such as aluminium. Available in all three insert sizes – SD06, SD09 and SD12 – it offers incredible flexibility in terms of feed rates, depth of cut and speeds. Even with the added advantage of the new G88 geometry variant, the real selling point for M4000 users is still its system concept, in particular the fact that its universal system inserts and milling cutters make it such an incredibly cost-effective solution. Because the inserts can be used in different cutter types, they make handling much simpler, as well as reducing procurement and storage costs. For existing users of Walter's M4000 system, the new insert geometry has succeeded in making an already universal solution even more universal. And for those who have yet to try it, the M4000 just became a whole lot more interesting as it débuts its new capability to machine non-ferrous metals such as aluminium.

LNHU
Walter AG
Crown inserts, exchangeable
Indexable inserts maximise efficiency. Since their launch at AMB 2012, Walter's LNHU... indexable inserts with a fully ground circumference have repeatedly proven themselves in various milling applications. They can be used in F5041, F5141 and F5241 tangential Walter BLAXX shoulder milling cutters as well as porcupine milling cutters and adjustable cartridge cutters, and have been gradually developed to become a system insert. Now Walter AG is adding a new sintered variant which, according to Walter, is primarily characterised by its efficiency. The new LNMU... indexable inserts with L55T geometry will initially launch on the market in Tiger·tec® Gold, grade WKP35G and Tiger·tec® Silver, grades WKP25S, WK45S and WKK25. As with the previous LNHU... ground indexable inserts, the new range has four cutting edges on each circumference-sintered insert, displaying extremely high levels of concentricity and run-out accuracy when used in Walter BLAXX milling cutters. Further key features – according to the Tübingen-based precision tools manufacturer – are their soft cutting action(which is enabled by helical cutting edges), their high feeds and precise 90° approach angles. Additional features of note include the high process reliability of the sintered indexable inserts due to their tangential alignment in the milling cutter, in addition to their high efficiency.

Customer solutions in next to no time Walter is expanding its range of products that can be ordered using the Walter Xpress fast delivery service to include indexable inserts. Until now, the special custom solutions that customers could order using the service had been limited to round tools and indexable insert bodies/carriers, and the tools had to be 'close to the standard tool'. Walter now offers its customers the benefits of Xpress for indexable inserts too, especially regarding short delivery times – three weeks for indexable insert special tools and four weeks for indexable inserts. Having short replenishment times aims to reduce the number of tools customers have in circulation and consequently cut their costs. They also help to ensure a higher degree of certainty when planning. The first indexable inserts to be available via Walter Xpress are the high-performance P600 inserts (orders of 10 to 200 pieces), which have a diameter of between 12 and 37.99 mm and are suitable for holes with a tolerance of IT8 or IT9 – in intermediate sizes or with a special shoulder design (e.g. land or radius). Not forgetting the four-edged indexable inserts in the MX Cut system (orders of 10 to 50 pieces), which have a maximum cutting depth of 6 mm and a cutting width of between 1 and 3.3 mm – in intermediate sizes with a full radius, straight edge or lands between 30 and 50°. Both types of indexable insert can be ordered from your Walter contact partner or via the online form in the Xpress area of the Walter website.
