Looking for a economical way to black coat some of my products that are aluminum and I do not have a local anodizer anymore. Has anyone used this from Birchwood Casey? Im gonna send them a few test pieces and check durability.

If it is low temp black oxide it isn't as good as the high temp black oxide. Also, black oxide is more of decorative.
If you are looking for low cost message me up and I will quote you on some parts. If you are in texas I could have them in an out in a week back to your shop.
Its 200* temp. Point of doing it in house is so I dont have to pay shipping costs to and from a outside shop. Some of my parts are fairly large.

This is nothing like anodizing, it is still soft like the base metal you are putting it on, if you were going to do use this process, then you could do the anodizing your self just as well
I think it was called "AlumaBlack". But like the guys said, it's nothing like hard anodizing; it just puts a black coating on the aluminum that's easy to buff off the high spots and show the detail by contrasting with the darkend low areas. Even light handling will rub it off.

There isnt any coater near you? Aprox where are you located?
Im in corpus christi, tx. Sadly, a city of 500,000+ with refinerys and oil has no professional "public" anodizing shop. I might get with MBG on some nuts I need anodized.
