50 years of team spirit and passion for technology

DATRON AG celebrates 50th company anniversary

Innovative strength, social responsibility and a team of committed and highly qualified employees - this is what DATRON AG from Mühltal/Traisa has stood for.

To celebrate half a century of company history, DATRON AG invited to its main location in Traisa on June 27. The big anniversary day was dominated by the DATRON slogan. "50 years of DATRON - 50 years of passion for technology". The numerous guests from local politics, business partners, relatives of DATRON employees and friends of the company experienced the varied company history and DATRON technologies at first hand in the DATRON Museum and in the DATRON Technology Centre. Among the guests, CEO Dr. Arne Brüsch also received congratulations from various political representatives from the region. Among the speakers during the ceremony were Klaus Peter Schellhaas, District Administrator of the Darmstadt-Dieburg District, Willi Muth, Mayor of the municipality of Mühltal, and Rainer Steuernagel, Chairman of the Mühltal Municipal Council. Beyond the eventful stations, guided tours through the DATRON production in Darmstadt offered an insight into the production processes of the company.

If you look at the history of DATRON AG, which has been successfully asserting itself on the market for 5 decades now, you can quickly see that the pillars of the company are based on two principles: on the one hand the DATRON team of committed and highly qualified employees and on the other the countless DATRON innovations of recent years. Innovations that range from the first DATRON M1 milling machine in 1988 to the intuitive and revolutionary DATRON next control 2016 and the brand new DATRON MXCube.

The founders Ortwin Pichl and Gerhard Schulte laid the foundation for this success story in 1969 in a residential building in Darmstadt before the company moved to Mühltal-Traisa in 1975. For several years, DATRON AG's production site has been located in the city again.

The DATRON measuring and control devices developed in the early years as well as the non-contact and optical sensors were used, among others, in the aerospace and automotive industries. With the design work and the first ideas for the DATRON M1, the company's focus increasingly shifted towards mechanical engineering, heralding a new era. "Due to the high demand, it was decided to make the machine ready for series production. From today's perspective, this strategic decision was one of the best you could make," says Manfred Becker, inventor of the first DATRON milling machine. To this day, the start of sales of DATRON high-speed milling tools, the development of DATRON's own dental milling machines and the DATRON dosing machines are among the major milestones in the company's history.

"Over the years, the company's focus has shifted away from the development of electronic components and device-related software towards mechanical engineering. Our high-speed milling machines set the highest quality standards and convince with precision and dynamics," underlined Dr. Arne Brüsch, CEO of DATRON AG on the day of the celebration.

Looking ahead to the next 50 years, the company is looking forward to further future-oriented innovations with a healthy growing team of committed DATRON employees. But all DATRON customers and fans also expect exciting events in the near future. At EMO 2019 in Hanover, for example, DATRON will be presenting its new high-speed flagship DATRON MXCube and smart automation solutions live for the first time.
