The new developed tap geometry Ti+ for process-reliable thread production in selected titanium alloys.
More than 50% of the titanium grades used worldwide consist of Alpha+Beta alloys. These materials bring special challenges to the user due to their difficult machinability. The new SL15 TI+ was developed specifically for this type of operation.
The geometry of the 15° right-hand helical blind hole taps has been provided with an extra high clearance angle to prevent cold welds. In addition, the helix reduction in the chamfer, caused by the spiral point, ensures short broken chips. This balanced combination is supported by the proven TiCN coating and guarantees high process reliability and excellent thread quality.
With this innovation, REIME NORIS offers the user the possibilities to further increase productivity in the thread machining of titanium alloys.
