Description

umatiConnect is a powerful open source software solution that enables a direct connection between the two leading communication ecosystems, umati and MTConnect. Developed in close collaboration with renowned partners, umatiConnect offers a simple way to connect machines with different standards – without any intervention in the control system.  

The application runs directly on an industrial PC and automatically generates the other interface, depending on whether it is connected to an umati OPC UA for Machine Tools or MTConnect-enabled machine. A configurable mapping table ensures reliable conversion and transmission of machine data into the desired format. Communication takes place on the local network – an internet connection is not necessary.  

Validation:  

The solution has been successfully tested with machine tools from Mazak and DMG MORI. Mazak machines, featuring an established MTConnect-based data ecosystem, were integrated into the umati ecosystem via umatiConnect, using the OPC UA for Machine Tools specification. and the data was visualized in the umati.app. Conversely, data from umati-enabled DMG MORI machines was successfully converted to MTConnect format and displayed in Mazak's MTConnect-based Smooth Monitor AX dashboard.
