umati: universal machine technology interface

There’s no better connection than a common language – which is also true for machinery. umati (universal machine technology interface) is a community of the machine building industries and their customers for the promotion and adoption of open, standardized interfaces based on OPC UA.

umati facilitates the data exchange between machines, components and installations and their integration into customer- and user-specific IT ecosystems – easily, seamlessly and securely.

An initiative to exploit new potentials for the production of the future – worldwide.

Goals of umati:

joint visibility and marketing of all sub-sectors of the machine building industries
simple, transparent communication to address end customers (= buyers/operators of machinery) and to stimulate and channel market demand
Creation of a neutral, global, cross-association community of companies to enforce uniform interface definitions and their implementation in all markets
an ecosystem to deliver on the user promise of "plug and play" across the many OPC UA standards emerging in the mechaninery industries worldwide

Technical infrastructure to realize comprehensive showcases, e.g. at trade fairs, and to make plug and play a tangible experience (own dashboard)
