Universally applicable: New Rexroth linear function modules

The newly developed, ready-to-install FMB and FMS function modules from Bosch Rexroth can be used for the majority of handling tasks in mechanical engineering. With a belt drive or Rexroth Ball Screw Assembly, they fulfil the requirements for dynamics and accuracy of up to 80% of all applications. Design engineers can order the modules with a stroke determined with millimeter precision and unrestricted by modular dimensions.

The new FMB and FMS function modules for handling, infeed and outfeed tasks as well as general automation complement Bosch Rexroth's tried and tested portfolio of Linear Modules. They are based on an aluminum frame. Depending on the size of the frame, one or two Ball Rail Systems and either a belt drive or a ball screw drive are integrated into it. The dimensions of the ready-to-install modules correspond to common market dimensions with standard load ratings. They are also based on the dimensions of other Rexroth Linear Modules for high-precision applications.

The new function modules can be selected, configured and ordered fully digitally. Design engineers can use Rexroth's LinSelect selection and dimensioning tool to quickly find the right solution for their application with just a few clicks. Here, guided intuitively they can determine the mechanics as well as the motor and drive controller. The function modules with belt drive cover strokes up to a maximum of 3,800 mm and the ball screw drive versions up to 1,500 mm. The strokes can be selected with millimeter precision as they are not restricted by modular dimensions.

Rexroth fulfils the standard market requirements with further configuration options. The profile bodies are mounted with the standard Rexroth fasteners. This speeds up assembly. In addition, users can employ the standard add-on components from Rexroth's Linear Motion Technology portfolio.

FMB and FMS are available either as purely mechanical assemblies or with the motors and drive control units as complete axes. The frequency converters and servo drives can be integrated into all common automation structures via a Multi-Ethernet interface. The function modules are initially being offered in two sizes; 80 and 110.
