I need Help!!
I have purchased this hybrid stepper motor kit from Ali Express.
3 off EBS860H drivers (copies of Leadshine EBS86h I think)

After connecting one of the drives to the motor/encoder and testing with Mach3, it seems as if the encoder feedback is not working.
The motor works great, sounds smooth and moves as it should, however if I remove the encoder cable the motor still works perfectly, absolutely no change.
With the encoder cable connected or disconnected I can rotate the motor with not too much force, there seems to be very little holding torque.
If I rotate the stepper motor with the encoder connected to the drive the driver should "see" that the motor has moved without a command from the driver and show an error, the drive has never shown any error.
My question is, has anybody had the same problem? This kit combination of driver and motor should be closed loop but they are working only as open loop and I cannot find a reason why?
I have checked and know for sure:
The encoder wiring to the driver is correct, I have removed the cover on the motor to check pinouts and cable colours.
The motor cables are correct to the driver.
The power supply is good and correct voltage,60 volts.
I have 5 volts at the encoder with correct polarity.
I only thing I can think of is a setting of the firmware in the drivers that is not telling the drivers to work in "closed loop" mode.
I have ordered an RS232 cable to try and connect the drivers to a PC, but i don´t think there is an option to enable or disable closed loop in the firmware, i will find out when the cable arrives.
Any other suggestions would be really helpful.
I have attached a picture of the motor, and wiring connections to the Driver.
Footnote, this driver has 8 dip switches. I have tried every possible combination of OFF/ON for the 8 switches but the drivers still only work as open loop.
Sorry, extra footnote.I have been in touch with HLTNC about the problem and they tell me the drivers work as open loop with the encoder disconnected and closed loop with the encoder connected. the problem is, all 3 of my drivers however they are connected, do not work in "closed loop" mode.
