INNOVATIVE SURFACE GRINDING TECHNOLOGY
DISKUS DEFINED GRINDING
Surface grinding technology DISKUS Defined Grinding
The innovative grinding technology DISKUS Defined Grinding, DDG for short, enables the defined production of dimension, shape and position on offset and non-asset flat surfaces on plane-parallel components. Roughness and grinding pattern can also be generated by definition. The technology is used in the new DFine machine platform

DISKUS WERKE Schleiftechnik‘s double face grinding machines are noted for their tremendously fast cycle rates and, thus, their high capacity. In order to optimally utilise this potential, all DISKUS automation solutions are tailored to specific process needs and customer requirements. The DDS-L automation series ranges from simple stacking magazines to fully automatic loading by robotic arms.
In DDS - XR series machine, a transfer disc moves the workpieces through the grinding zone. This method allows the coplanar grinding of workpieces of very different shapes. Depending on the machine confi guration, four different grinding methods are available. This makes the DDS - XR series the ideal candidate for machining a broad range of workpieces at top-level quality in a fl exible and economic manner. Its small footprint and an operating panel on just one side facilitates an automated setup of the grinding machine while leaving the option of manual loading for small batches.
The new type of machine DDW 1060-1600 is an high-precision grinding machine. Its double face grinding operation allows for n economical production of plane parallel surfaces. This process creates high parallelism tolerances, flatness and surface quality.
A side face grinding machine with two vertically installed grinding spindles. These build in motor grinding spindles have variable r.p.m. and are mounted onto two cross slides. Each of them can move individually in vertical and horizontal direction. With help of the 600 mm diameter grinding wheels and the cross slide movements, the machine can be set to the geometry of the work pieces. This machine is mainly used to grind the small and the big end of connecting rods, no matter if these are for passenger cars or for truck engines. For example, the small end and big end of coplanar or non coplanar connecting rods of commercial and passenger vehicles can be machined on both sides and the trapezium as well.
The ModuLine component rings in a new age of production planning. Due to the high configurability of this innovative concept, it is now possible to define the optimum solution for every production process, a concept which is variable and configurable to the maximum degree, and therefore absolutely reliable and viable for the future. Due to the generous multi-technology platform, up to 4 technology modules can be integrated at the same time for efficient simultaneous and complete machining. A wide selection of high-performance pick-up spindles are also available, depending on the intended machining process. The ModuLine automation cell can be adapted to every aspect of production. Feed, linking, transport, parallel post-process activities and parts storage can be combined in the smallest possible area, depending on workpieces and the installed logistics. This represents an alternative to bulky, rigid belt linkages and inaccessible gantries.
