How do I adjust the backlash

So this is where you all went. The "official" forum is dead!

Can someone write the procedure to adjust the x axis backlash with the split nuts? Shopmaster hasn't started shipping manuals with the Tri-Power yet. My backlash is so awful I can't even participate in the rocking table discussion.

    I have acme screws.

    Spencer,
I too would like to know how to adjust them. I wonder if the Eldorado has similar double acme nuts? I will ask John at Shoptask if nobody posts in the next few days.

The Eldorado nut is the same.

    JT Says:

The nuts have a spring between them- if you loosen the clamp bolts, the
spring will push the nuts apart and make contact wwith the leading and
trailing edges of the nut- sometimes you must move the table a bit back and forth by hand to get them to seat.

Our patriots have double nuts but no spring. Instead they have one of the nuts with a flange and 2 small set screws. When you turn the set screws it moves the flanged nut away from the other nut, putting contact on both sides of the threads and reducing the lash. Be careful though- its easy to go too far and then you cannot turn the screw at all.
