    Question Fanuc A06B-6088-H222 Spindle Drive

I am at home, with no reference books and a friend has asked about a problem he currently has on site.

He is working on a machine with a Fanuc A06B-6088-H222 spindle drive with "--" in it's dispaly.

Am I correct in saying that the drive is not enabled, and that the drive's internal relay has not energised via a voltage that should be applied to the drives enabling terminals? (Pins 3 & 4 at 100Vac?)

And if 100Vac is applied, then the internal relay may be faulty?

Or am getting confused with another drive system?

If you are lacking the contact closure at PSM Power Supply Module connector CX4 (pins 2 -3), the spindle and any servo amps connected to the alpha modular bus would be disabled and the -- would appear in the SPM display.

However, with the alpha drives, the -- is the normal condition for a spindle that is not commanded to run.

You would need to command the Estop signal (*ESPA), enable signal (MRDY) although this can be enabled with a parameter, and a direction signal (*SFRA or *SRVA).

Lacking any one of the above 3 signals will prevent the spindle from being enabled and will show the -- in the display. If all 3 signals were active, you would have the 00 in the display. The windings would be excited and you would have some current in the spindle motor, even if you didn't command a Spindle RPM.

    Thanks cnc....
Report back from my friend pasted below...
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hi Dick, I got back to the Chiron job today,

CNC2149 was on the right track,
*ESPB (g8.4) and MRDYA (g70.7) were both on - ok

Couldnt see SFRA or SRVA but found a couple of paired networks close by spattered with M3 and M4 interlocks.

R567.3 looked like it could be SFRA off
R567.4 looked like it could be SRvA off

After a quick dance through the plc found that clamped and unclamped proxys for the tool change grippers were both on,
what a relief , sorted that out and the pheonix rose .. till next time

Thanks to all, take the rest of the day off , Mark"

    So once again, thank you!
