Hi Grahutch,
Have you sorted your problems out yet? I know you said you checked the DSP cable, but have you checked the plug that it plugs into? I noticed I had some bent pins in the cable...
Thanks jubee
Hi jubee,
I haven't machined the table top of my 0609 yet but plan to shortly. How rough was the surface afterwards? Was the cutter able to get right into the corners? Did you sand it or...
I think you get a few options for high-density foam in the US, like signfoam and precisionboard.
Multipanel is the only Australian supplier that I'm aware of for it.. does anyone know of any...
You get computer-controlled equipment to do most of the work, and only need to change tools, and still complain! Sheesh!
Just joking, I want an ATC too!
Good stuff Mark. Whereabouts do you get your cutters from? Online?
Cheers, Tom

Here is a couple of pictures of the dust shoe. Works pretty well for a first attempt using whatever we had lying around.
Except I still want one that looks as nice as Maxmachine's!
Sounds like I'm not alone in dodgy dust shoes then! I bought a $90 shop vac which does a fairly good job of sucking, makes a bloody racket though. I'll buy a proper dust extractor sometime soon,...
Hi guys,
I haven't been able to do a whole lot with my 0609 machine lately, but it's still going well. I've made a very dodgy dust extraction setup with a Tupperware container, kitchen sink plug,...
Thanks for the advice about tightening collets guys. I don't think we've been over tightening it then.
I was a bit put off from reading things like "DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN" when looking for more...
Hi guys,
How do you judge how much you should tighten the cullet nut? I know we aren't supposed to overtighten them, but how fine is the line between not tight enough and too tight??
Wow this thread just keeps growing and growing..
I still have to get a dust shoe for my machine, first thought was to try and cannibalise a Tupperware container. That brush strip sounds good...
Thanks guys, good to know it's not just mine at least.
Would be good if they could do a software update to allow the filename to scroll across the screen like it does for menu items.
A question for other DSP users: how are you coping when picking G. code files through the DSP control? I can only see four or five characters effectively on the screen, and doesn't scroll through...
I'm definitely not quite knowledgeable with these things rocket! There is a point in asking if we're pressing both buttons at the same time, because we are not, where does it say that in the manual?...
Rocket,
It says that in the manual but it doesn't work like that on my machine, Z plus and minus doesn't do anything. It looks like if I want spindle speed control it will have to be through the...
Anyone after the Excitech DSP manual can download it from their web site here:
http://www.webshcnc.com/english/Download.asp
using the password "sign in".
Yeah, I was just wondering if he would be importing them with the DSP system or adding his own Mach3 or Wincnc computer, or some other features...
Question answered though, I checked out the...
Is he just doing a straight rebadge of the Excitech machine?
I hope it's someone starting out with video editing, because that song was horribly out of place :)
Rocket, congratulations, I bet...
Good luck with the first run rocket!
Jimmy, what sort of formats for 3D files are you looking for?
And you mentioned about spindle startup procedures for the bigger machines, is it necessary to...
Except for some of our rivers like the King River, which is one of the most polluted in Australia!
e: I've been in this thread too long, have an inkling I might have already mentioned that before...
That's good to hear leef, it wasn't a cheap Chinese oiling can by any chance was it?? :)
Some more photos of around the spindle and gantry.
Kent, let me know if you have any particular parts in mind you want photographed.. I should have taken a photo of inside the control box when we...
Thanks Jimmy, I've got the DSP manual as a Word document that I downloaded from their web site that is in mostly understandable English.. (they should get Taney to rewrite it!)
I've also got a PDF...
Yup. Using the USB stick is so easy that I don't know when I'll get around to installing the DSP software either. I guess you could use any size stick as well so large files shouldn't be a...
Hi Jimmy, is that the grease nipple you are greasing in that red painted area of the image I've attached? And if so does a standard grease gun fit it? It's interesting how different people have...
I don't have metal filings on my rails leef, so sounds like a good idea to get in touch with Taney about it.
The issue of grease nipples seems to be up in the air, Scott doesn't grease his at all...
Mine is the same, a bit dodgy but seems to be secure enough (as long as you don't trip over it it seems!)
Thanks guys.
Jimmy, I've just been using the supplied bits, mainly just the 6 mm and 1/8 inch end mills and the 32 mm v bit.
Is there supposed to be much difference between the engraving bits...
