I understand that my initial budget is low for that kind of power. Which machine should work for that and how much should i spend to get a reliable turnkey package?
thanks Rodney,
I guess I have to redefine my needs for that machine. Cutting leather is the main idea of buying a laser, I should go for 100w t ocut leather 5mm thick and also review my budget...
well, here are revised needs:
-precisely cut hardwood max 10MM THICK ON A SINGLE PASS.
-precisely cut leather max 5mm thick

1-rails are bolted only on one face of the tube, but first had to face, drill and tap on a bigger mill.
2-Machine is running does and work great, was more complex than i thougth to tune...
Rails has been mounted this way because was easier to face, drill and tap on a single setup. Just make sure both surfaces were on a same plane.
will post more pictures soon

Because of the price I am considering 25 mm x 5 mm THK rolled ball screw with nut BNT2505-2.6. Nut have 0.1mm of backlash (0.004''). Should I worry about this backlash or mach 3 can do compensation...
After welding, I will face, drill and tap the table on a large milling to insure parallelism of both rails for each axis.
Thanks

You could use a right and left threaded worn screw but in your desing, backalsh is transfered to the bevel gears!!
Keep going on design, i am also interested in a rotary axe.
thanks

Smithy has linear slide for z axis versus dove tail for tromach!
For a machine that size, I don't think that is a big difference because weight is pretty much the same. Does anybody know what...
Hi,
After reading on both models, smithy seams to be a better machine. Does it worth the difference between a smithy cnc versus tormach?
Smithy 1240 pc version = $8700
Tormach = $6800
I am...
I didn't know that smithy had cnc mills. Does anybody have experience with smithy?
After comparing them the smithy 1240cnc to tormach, it seems to be a better quality than a Tormach 1100. I am...
